How many games in a 10-team round robin?
The formula is n × (n − 1) ÷ 2. For ten teams that’s 10 × 9 ÷ 2 = 45 games. Each team plays 9 of them. A double round robin (everyone plays everyone twice, home and away) doubles that to 90 games and 18 games per team.
- Rounds: 9 (round = a block of games played at the same time)
- Games per round: 5
- Games per team: 9 (single) or 18 (double)
- Byes: none
No byes with 10 teams
Because 10 is an even number, there are no byes: every team plays in every round. That makes 10 teams one of the most efficient round robin sizes — 5 games run at the same time if you have 5 courts or fields.

How long does a 10-team round robin take?
It depends on game length and how many courts or fields you have. With 30-minute games on one court, 45 games take about 22 h 30 min. With 5 courts you can play a whole round at once, so the event takes 9 × 30 = 4 h 30 min plus breaks. Use the Courts / fields option in the generator to get court numbers for every game.
Round robin or bracket?
A round robin guarantees every team 9 games, which is why it’s popular for leagues, pickleball socials and pool play. If you’re short on time, a knockout bracket needs only 9 games for ten teams. A common format is round robin pools first, then a single elimination bracket seeded from the standings.

FAQ
How many rounds are in a 10-team round robin?
9 rounds. With an even number of teams you need one round fewer than the number of teams.
How many games does each team play?
9 games in a single round robin and 18 in a double round robin.
How do I decide the winner?
Rank teams by wins (a tie counts as half a win), then by point differential, then by points scored. The standings table in the generator applies these tiebreakers automatically as you enter scores.
