What’s on the score sheet

How to keep score in softball
- Write the batting order with jersey numbers and positions (1 pitcher, 2 catcher, 3 first base, 4 second base, 5 third base, 6 shortstop, 7 left field, 8 center field, 9 right field; 10 for the extra fielder in slowpitch).
- Each at-bat: tick the ball and strike boxes, then record the result in the inning box: 1B, 2B, 3B or HR for hits, BB for a walk, K for a strikeout, and fielder numbers for outs (6-3 means shortstop to first).
- Base runners: draw the path around the diamond as the runner advances, and fill in the diamond when she scores.
- End of the inning: draw a line under the last batter and write runs, hits and errors in the totals and the line score.

Why are there two pages?
One page per team, like a real scorebook: visitors bat first, home bats second. The line score on each page shows the whole game.
