Free printable volleyball lineup sheet: six line-up slips on one page, ready to cut and hand to the scorer before each set. Type your serving order once and it is pre-filled on every slip, with the libero and captain numbers. Leave it empty for a blank volleyball lineup sheet to fill in by hand.
What’s on each lineup slip
- Set number: sets 1 to 3 (or 1 to 5), plus spare slips for when you change the starting line-up.
- Team, opponent and date.
- The court grid with the six starting positions: IV, III, II in the front row and V, VI, I in the back row. Position I is the first server.
- Libero and captain numbers, a serving / receiving box, six substitution boxes and the coach’s signature.
How to fill out a volleyball lineup sheet
- Write the serving order. The player in box I serves first, then II, III, IV, V and VI. The order is the same as your rotation: once the set starts, it can only change through substitutions.
- Check the court picture. The grid shows where each player stands at the first serve, as seen from your own court: IV is the left front, II the right front and I the right back.
- Add the libero number. The libero is not part of the six starters on the slip; she replaces a back-row player after the set starts.
- Mark the captain on the court and sign the slip.
- Hand it in to the scorer or second referee before the set, usually during the time between sets. Once submitted, the line-up for that set can’t change except by substitutions.
Not sure who goes where? Plan your six rotations with the volleyball rotation sheet maker (5-1, 6-2 or 4-2) and copy the serving order here. Keeping score as well? Print the volleyball score sheet.
Lineup tips for coaches
- Prepare the slips for all sets before the match, with the same order pre-filled, and only cross out what changes.
- Keep the spare slips: if you lose a set and want to start the next one in a different rotation, write a fresh slip instead of correcting the old one.
- The serving order I–VI on the slip is the same as on the scorer’s sheet, so a mistake on the slip becomes a rotation fault on the court. Check it twice.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the official USA Volleyball or NFHS lineup sheet?
No. It follows the same layout (I to VI, front row IV–III–II, back row V–VI–I) and works for club, school and rec matches, but if your competition requires its own form, use that one.
Can I print a blank volleyball lineup sheet?
Yes. Press Blank lineup sheets and print, or save the page as a PDF from the print dialog.
How many slips do I need for a match?
One per set for your team: three for a best-of-3 match and up to five for a best-of-5. The page gives you six, so you always have a spare.
