Pickleball Round Robin Generator (Rotating Partners)

Make a pickleball round robin with rotating partners in seconds: free, no sign-up. Enter your players and the number of courts. The generator builds every round so each player gets a new partner and new opponents, and shares the sit-outs evenly. Type the scores as you play and the player standings update on their own. Print it for the courts, share it with the group or save it online with a live link.

How the pickleball round robin generator works

  1. Add your players, one per line, or just set the number of players. The tool supports 4 to 40.
  2. Choose the courts. Each court takes four players per round. Anyone who doesn’t fit sits out that round, and the generator rotates the sit-outs so nobody rests twice before everyone has rested once.
  3. Pick the number of rounds. The recommended number gives everyone the most different partners. With 8 players on 2 courts, 7 rounds means every player partners with every other player exactly once.
  4. Play and enter scores. Each player earns the result of their team, so the standings rank individuals by games won, then point differential and points scored.
  5. Share or print. Share schedule sends the courts and partners to the group chat. Save online keeps a live link that updates as scores come in.

Don’t like the draw? Press New draw for a different combination of partners. The schedule itself is saved, so it doesn’t change when you reload the page.

The best numbers are multiples of four (8, 12, 16, 20 players): every court is full and nobody sits out. With 9 or 13 players, one player rests each round, which gives a natural water break.

Rotating partners vs. fixed partners

Rotating partners (also called a mixer or a scramble) is the classic format for open play, club socials, ladders and leagues where players sign up on their own. Everybody plays with everybody, the teams stay balanced and the final standings are individual.

Fixed partners means teams of two stay together all day. For that, enter each pair as one team in the round robin generator, which schedules team against team and keeps team standings. Playing a knockout after the round robin? Seed the top players or pairs into a pickleball bracket.

Tips for running a pickleball round robin

  • Decide the game format before the first serve: one game to 11 (win by 2) per round is the most common. If time is short, play games to 9 or 15-minute timed rounds and record the score when time is called.
  • Number the courts the same way as the schedule, and call each round out loud so players rotate quickly.
  • Have players report scores to one organizer, or save the round robin online and let them follow the live link on their phones.
  • Rank by games won first and point differential second. It keeps the standings fair when players have different partners every game.

Frequently asked questions

How many rounds should a pickleball round robin have?

For rotating partners, the number of players minus one when the count is a multiple of four (7 rounds for 8 players), or one round per player otherwise. That lets each player partner with as many others as possible. Fewer rounds work fine for a shorter session.

What happens with an odd number of players?

Some players sit out each round. The generator spreads the sit-outs evenly, so with 9 players on 2 courts everyone sits out exactly once in 9 rounds.

Can I use it for singles?

For singles, every player is their own team: use the round robin generator with player names instead of teams.

Is it free?

Yes. No account and no app. The schedule stays on your device, and Save online gives you a free live link for the group.
